The travel and tourism industry has experienced enormous growth over the last decade and the future holds impressive potential. As part of this wider industry, hospitality has evolved into a highly competitive, complex and global business that offers exciting career opportunities. In India, nearly 400 hotel projects offering over 70,000 branded rooms are today under various stages of execution and expected to be commissioned over the next two years. Executives and Service staff requirement of the industry shall witness an exponential growth. The impending explosion in the hospitality industry would throw up abundance of opportunities for aspiring students. Kuldip Verma, CEO of VAVA Tourism & Hospitality Solutions (P) Ltd., during his tenure as head of the ITDC’s HRD Division for 8 years, had the opportunity to convert the ITDC’s Manpower Develoment Centre in to a full-fledged ISO 9001-2000 certified IHM - ‘The Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management’ in New Delhi. Following training activities were designed & commendably conducted from this Institute:

  • 4 Year Bachelors’ in International Hospitality Business Management (BIHBM) in affiliation with Kurukshetra University, Haryana, which was nominated for the ‘PATA Gold Awards 2007’ in the category of ‘Education & Training’.
  • 1 Year ‘Diploma in Air Hostess, Travel & Hospitality Management’ Program in association with Trade Wings Institute of Management was conducted successfully in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Trivandrum for 1450 students.
  • 20 Weeks ‘Cruise Hospitality Course’ in Goa.
  • ‘Capacity Building for Service Providers’ Scheme (CBSP) was conducted on behalf of Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. A large number of Stake-holders in Tourism Chain were trained all over India. States that were covered included Uttarakhand, Nagaland, J&K and Himachal Pradesh etc.
  • Orientation training for 1100 Hotel Management students/Volunteers assigned for Commonwealth Games 2010.

Education & Training Consultancy by VAVA for various Programs:

Bachelors’ Degree in Hotel Management

The College interested in associating with VAVA should possess requisite infrastructure, Audio-visual Aids and facilities as per AICTE/ University norms. Minimum student intake per year should be 50 students.

Scope of VAVA activities include:
  • Infrastructure Audit of the College by the VAVA Team
  • Value addition in the syllabus of hotel management course
  • Assistance in selection of faculty
  • Provision of 1 week ‘Train-the Trainer’ Program for the faculty
  • Periodical inspection of the college to monitor compliance of standards
  • Special training sessions with Training Films by VAVA faculty
  • Guidance for professional training inputs
  • Career Counseling by VAVA Executives
  • Arrangement for foreign internship training

The College should have an affiliation with a State/ National University which would handle the admissions and examination process.

An Agreement is to be entered in to between VAVA and the prospective institution in this regard.

Diploma in Airline Hospitality, Travel Agency & Hotel Operations:

VAVA has the requisite expertise in conducting the above training. VAVA shall take up assignments to conduct the 1 year ‘Diploma in Airline Hospitality, Travel Agency & Hotel Operations’.

VAVA consultancy shall include the following:
  • Institute Branding
  • Standard interiors
  • Standard Training Modules
  • Methodology for each training module
  • Selection and training of Coordinators for franchising units
Scope of VAVA activities will include:
  • Infrastructure Audit of the premises by the VAVA Team
  • Display of ‘The VAVA Institute’ and the Brand Name of the Course
  • Value addition of the Training Modules
  • Assistance in selection of Course Coordinator and faculty
  • Provision of 1 week ‘Train-the Trainer’ Program for the faculty
  • Periodical inspection of the Institute to monitor compliance of standards
  • Provision of practical training in hotels/ travel agencies
  • Certification

An Agreement is to be entered in to between VAVA and the prospective institution for the joint programme to run the professional Course.

Certificate Courses in Hotel Operations:

Hotel Operations include those departments of the hotels which are essential for the smooth functioning of any hotel. These are Front Office, Food & Beverage Service, House-keeping and Food Production. Staff of these departments, except the Kitchen, comes in contact of the hotel guests. Imparting proper knowledge & training to the staff is the key to the success of the hotel operations.
